Corporate and Social Responsibility Awards

STCIC CSR LEADERSHIP AWARDS DESIGN COMPETITION 2009

STCIC AND CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (CSR)

Corporate Social Responsibility may be simply understood as the responsible manner in which companies conduct their business operations. The STCIC is committed to promoting CSR in Trinidad & Tobago and believes that implementation of comprehensive CSR policies across the private-sector will be a significant driver for national social and economic development. The Chamber's CSR initiatives focus on three areas:
• Accountability and Transparency
• Volunteerism and Community Relations
• Waste Disposal and Recycling

ABOUT THE CSR LEADERSHIP AWARDS

The South Trinidad Chamber of Industry and Commerce Annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Leadership Awards is the vehicle which highlights the Chamber's activities centered on Corporate Social Responsibility. The Awards aim at recognizing member companies which continue to demonstrate a deep and genuine commitment to industry-driven Corporate Social Responsibility. The Awards serve to heighten the awareness of CSR through healthy competition within, between and amongst companies which have established sustainable CSR programmes and policies and those companies which are newly pioneering in the area of CSR.

Through a spirit of competitive rivalry, the most outstanding companies are honoured for their commitments to CSR in various areas concerning ethics and transparency; environmental sustainability; volunteerism; human capital and business development.

Last year, the Awards were rebranded as the "CSR Leadership Awards" which emphasized the STCIC's pioneering efforts in the area of CSR, both within the Energy industry and nationally.
