All Clear for UK Energy Park

(Reuters)

"By 2020 , the UK needs to generate 15% of its energy from renewable resources and energy from biomass can account for one third of that" said UK and Climate Change Minister  David Kidney in fully endorsing an "Energy Park" initiative by Peterborough Renewable Energy Limited (PREL) which would revolutionise waste management practices by recycling mixed waste while producing clean energy.

PREL has gotten the all clear from the UK governemnt to build a waste recycling an green pwoer plant that could eliminte the need for landfills. The intent is to priduce and provide low carbon energy.

It is estimated that the 80 MW power plant and recycling project could produce enough green energy to pwoer 60,000 homes and keep 600,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide out of the air.

The facility will target mechanical recycling, food waste and gasification. Plans are in place to be able to turn old electronic waste into roof tiles and materials for new computers.
