Advisory to Members re: Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards fee for General Labeling Standard

In response to representation made by the STCIC and others the Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards (TTBS) has decided to postpone the implementation of a 0.5% fee related to labeling standards for imported goods. The general labeling standard that was introduced on September 3rd 2007 will however be implemented. The proposed fee was a 0.5% charge on the value of imported goods (C.I.F). The implementation of this fee has been postponed to January 2008 pending consultation between the private sector, the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the TTBS. Members will be informed of further developments.
