EmailThe Cultural Center of the Inter-American Development Bank has launched its 2009 Call for Proposals for small-scale cultural development projects in the field. One-time-only grants ranging from US$3,000 to US$10,000 will be awarded for successful innovative projects on the basis of fulfilling a local need, contributing towards cultural values and cultural heritage, preserving and recovering traditions, supporting artistic excellence, and contributing toward youth and community development. These projects will be evaluated for their viability, educational scope, effective use of resources, ability to mobilize additional financial resources and the long-term impact on the community.
Trinidad and Tobago has received several IDB Cultural Development in the Field grants over the years. In 2001 a grant was provided to the Studio 66 Art Support Community for its Visual Arts Apprenticeship Training Program through which well-known artists conveyed techniques and experiences to young artists. In 2004 the Roxborough Police Youth Club in Tobago received a grant for the acquisition of instruments and implementation of musical and choral workshops for young people in Tobago.
